Time is fleeting, and memories are an important part of your legacy

GRIEF IS NO STRANGER TO ME

Photographs are all that we have

Losing my mom at a young age became a very large chapter in my story. A gift that tragedy gave me as I've grown older is an understanding of the fleeting nature of time and the importance of protecting precious moments. My dad passed away in 2020, and in the wake of this loss, I found power in creativity, and how it can be an outlet for my grief, expression and preserving a legacy.

My experience with grief has taught me that what we do with our time on this earth matters.

This has grown my passion for photography, capturing with thoughtful intention, the most cherished moments & milestones for others.

Once I came to the realization that I can channel my passion into something meaningful and impactful, I grew so much confidence in why I am doing this.

It’s the deep connection I make with my clients.

It's a symbiotic relationship where I not only capture their stories but become a part of them. Often doing multiple sessions for new milestones in their lives, or spending 8+ hours following around on their wedding day - their memories mean so much to me, I want to show up for them. I now find myself resonating with their joys, empathizing with their struggles, and celebrating their wins. In these shared moments, I learn as much from them as they do from me.

I’ve felt a calling to be creative for what feels like my whole life, it’s always found it’s way back to me.

MY MAIDEN NAME IS THORSTEINSON - ICELANDIC AT HEART

An interesting story…

I discovered a handful of video cassette tapes in a box in 2020 when my husband (well, boyfriend at the time) Brett and I moved into our new apartment.

Line drawing of two hands holding a flower with a rosebud, with the background in black and the lines in red.

We needed an old camcorder to watch them since the technology is so dated, and Brett’s parents happened to still have one stored away. I knew the videotapes were memories of my childhood based on the timestamps written on the cassette box.

I started watching and videos of my mom appeared, and I came to the realization that I had just heard her voice for the first time.

It was an incredible moment and realization that losing your mom at 13 months old wouldn’t allow you to keep that memory stored in your tiny brain. Memories are so sacred, and having evidence that we lived here on earth is something that should be invested in.

They serve as documentation that you made your mark here.

When you flip through your childhood albums, you feel nostalgia of a different time - you see unposed, unstaged, moments of your life. Seeing things simply as they were, I carry that with me when I take photos.

I’ll take care of your memories

On an important milestone, like your first pregnancy, your wedding day, or anything in-between - trust that I will take care of your memories.

I’ll carefully curate an album that reflects how it felt to be a witness of you in that moment.

I don’t want to recreate moments or interrupt life as it unfolds - I’ll document you authentically.
